Bio

Dave Ahl is a composer, engineer, producer, and keyboardist with his own studio in Brooklyn, NY.  Ahl's latest project is the debut album by Vieux Farka Toure, son of the late master Ali Farka Toure. Ahl mixed the entire album, as well as producing, arranging, and playing keyboards. The self-titled debut by Vieux Farka Toure features performances by Grammy Winners Toumani Diabate and the last work of Ali Farka Toure. The release hit #1 on the CMJ World Music Charts.

A graduate of Wesleyan University, Ahl is on the board of directors at Modiba Productions, a music and film company dedicated to African causes. Modiba's first release, ASAP: the Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project, hit #1 on the iTunes World Music charts and raised $130k for a local charity in Darfur.

Ahl has recorded or produced a number of albums including the jazz release What it Is by NPR favorite Noah Baerman, a live avant-garde recording The Flux Quartet plays Wesleyan Composers, the afro-funk compilation ASAP: the Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project, a conceptual masterpiece Convergence by composer Neally Bruce, Stolen by vocal ensemble the Wesleyan Sprits, and his own debut jazz/funk release last stop: underground.
