What It Is is a live album of NPR favorite jazz pianist Noah Baerman in top form with a swinging trio. Due to flooding of the studio in which Ahl was scheduled to record the album, Ahl captured the performance with his portable recording gear at Crowell Concert Hall in Middletown, CT. The result, according to Hartford Courant journalist Richard Kamins, was a "final product...as exciting to listen to as the recording was fun to watch."
